Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) provides free civil services to residents of 68 counties in southwest Texas. It represents migrant and seasonal workers throughout the state and six other southern states. TRLA`s lawyers specialize in many practice areas, including family, employment, foreclosure, bankruptcy, disaster relief, subsidized housing, agricultural workers` rights, civil rights, immigration, and environmental law. Texas RioGrande Legal Aid`s service territory covers one-third of the entire U.S.-Mexico border. Applications for all types of civil (non-criminal) legal aid: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-1pm American Gateways serves the immigrant community and provides low-cost legal assistance to various immigration or refugee services, including asylum, families, adaptation, citizenship, public relations and advocacy. Our Telephone Access to Justice (TAJ) helpline is designed to help you request free civil law services from TRLA. Trained intake agents will guide you through the process to determine if you are eligible for services. The hotline takes calls from Monday to Thursday from 8am to 7.30pm.
